Overview
Programme Recovery is our most frequently requested engagement. It is designed for complex programmes that have lost control, momentum or stakeholder confidence—and where an experienced external perspective can reveal issues that may no longer be visible to those immersed in day-to-day delivery.
Recovery does not start with immediate action. It starts with understanding the programme well enough to distinguish root causes from symptoms, protect what is working and focus intervention where it can make a genuine difference.
When is this service required?
Repeated delivery slippage
No reliable view of programme status
Unresolved risks and dependencies
Unclear ownership and governance
Declining stakeholder confidence
Critical milestone at risk
How we approach recovery
We work from the programme’s purpose down to its delivery mechanics—from the general to the specific.

Purpose and business value
We first establish why the programme exists, what outcomes it is expected to deliver, where the business value should come from and who should benefit from it.Scope and programme structure
We examine the programme’s scope, delivery model, workstreams, ownership, responsibilities and the way individual components contribute to the intended outcomes.Stakeholders and governance
We assess stakeholder alignment, sponsorship, decision rights, governance forums, escalation paths and whether the current structure enables or obstructs delivery.Delivery reality
Only then we move into detailed plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, resources, suppliers, reporting and day-to-day delivery practices.Stabilisation and recovery
Based on the facts, we protect the elements that work, address the actual causes of delivery problems and establish a realistic route back to controlled execution.
This is not an audit performed from a distance. We work directly with sponsors, programme leaders and delivery teams, challenge assumptions, facilitate decisions and help implement the recovery actions.
What you receive
Depending on the scope of the engagement, this normally covers a programme health assessment, root-cause analysis, stabilisation plan, recovery roadmap and rebaseline, governance reset, prioritised RAID log, Steering Committee pack and executive recovery dashboard for regular reporting.
Typical duration
Typically 1–2 months, depending on the scale, complexity and condition of the programme.
The initial phase establishes the facts and immediate stabilisation priorities. The remaining period is used to reset the plan and governance, lead critical recovery actions and transition the programme back into controlled delivery. Where continued ownership is required, the engagement may transition into Programme Leadership.
